On Monday interest rates for 30-year fixed mortgages dropped further to an average rate of 5.49%. Thirty-year fixed mortgage rates varied by state. Pennsylvania and New York mortgage rates decreased the most. Pennsylvania decreased from 5.74 % to 5.56 % and New York decreased from 5.79% to 5.62%. Wisconsin mortgage rates and Massachusetts mortgage rates were the highest, each at 5.68 %. Florida mortgage rates were the lowest, at 5.50 %. Vermont mortgage lenders run similar to the New York and Boston trends for interest rates. This is a positive sign for mortgage interest rates as the real estate market moves into the Summer months here in Vermont.
